General Information

Heasandford Primary School prides itself on being one of the largest primary schools in the county. Our size enables us to hold a real central position within the local community, and allows us to provide a stimulating and exciting environment in which children can learn and grow. The school is able to provide a real sense of community spirit, together with offering opportunities to learn in an environment which is large enough to offer variety in a familiar setting.
Our school consists of 21 primary classrooms, ranging from the Foundation Stage classes for our youngest pupils, up to the Year 6 classes. Each year group has three classrooms within it and each of the class teachers in a year group work very closely together to ensure all the children enjoy the same quality of teaching and learning within the year group.
The school consists of four departments – The Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2. Each department has a hall area which is available for P.E. lessons, assemblies, performances and creative activities and they each have their own playground for the pupils’ break times, outdoor games activities, sports etc. The school also has a well kept garden area, which is often explored by the children. This provides a pleasant haven for small groups of children to work in.
Our school provides a well stocked school library, ICT suite, a Sensory Room and a Medical Room – all available for pupils to use when appropriate. The school also offers a Breakfast Club, a wide variety of exciting Extra-Curricular activities, and a family support unit.
Our school has strong links with the community including, local libraries, nurseries, Burnley Football Club, local industry and our local High Schools and Primary Schools. We also regularly take the pupils on various school trips in order to extend their learning opportunities, and to make the work being taught in the classroom even more fun and meaningful. Alongside these, the school invites a range of visitors to work with the children, from Viking re-enactment groups, to puppet performances and local artists.
